Damiana

The Latin name for the herb Damiana is Turnera aphrodiaca. For several decades Damiana leaves have been used for various benefits.

Damiana is a shrub that is small. The leaves have a strong smell to them. This shrub is found on dry, sunny, rocky hillsides in southern Texas and southern California in the United States. It is also found in Mexico and Central America. The two known species of damiana herb are Turnera aphrodisiaca and Turnera diffusa.

It doesn’t matter if you are male or female, Demiana leaves can be used for sexual stimulation. Besides that use, or benefit, these leaves can be used for increasing energy, asthma, depression, impotence, and menstrual problems.

In the past, damiana has been used for any health symptom which would have a sexual component to them. This includes the relieving of anxiety and nervousness. As a general tonic, damiana has been used by people to improve their wellness. When thie herb is taken in large does, it has a mild laxative effect. When more was known about this herb, damiana was then also used to improve digestion and to rid people of constipation.

Damiana is well known in southwestern cultures as a tonic for sexuality. Those cultures use it this way because damiana stimulates the intestinal tract and brings oxygen to the genital area. The herb restores libido, desire, and the ability to achieve orgasm since it increases energy levels.
